At a time when the world only thought of Rioja when it came to Spanish wines, he set about cultivating old, abandoned vineyards in previously unknown growing areas. In doing so, Bodegas Volver has succeeded not only in reviving old, indigenous grape varieties but also in repositioning Spanish quality wines.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eThe Region\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eArchaeological finds show that vines were cultivated in the Valencia region as far back as prehistoric times. Today, the largest port city in Spain, the autonomous region and one of the five DO areas in the Levante gives it its name. In the Valencia DO, white wine is produced on brown, limestone-rich soils to the greatest extent, mainly from the late-ripening Merseguera grape; fruity, pleasantly drinkable red wines are made from well-matured Monastrell and Garnacha.
