Amaya Arzuaga Colección 2019 Red Wine – A fruity, harmonious ruby-red wine with an intense bouquet of sour cherry, Zwetschge plum, blackcurrant and redcurrant, along with robust roasted aromas of cocoa, chocolate and a few smoky notes. On the palate, it is fresh, very soft, full and round, with a long finish.

About Bodegas Arzuaga

Following his passion for wine, Florentino Arzuaga acquired the unique La Planta winery in Quintanilla de Onésimo in 1982. Situated in the golden mile of Ribera del Duero, where most of the region's renowned wineries are located, the beautiful estate sits on the Paramo hill. Thanks to the diverse flora and lush forests, the 150 hectares of vineyards enjoy a balanced climate and optimal growing conditions. Sunny days and cool nights allow predominantly Tempranillo grapes to ripen here to the highest quality. Cultivated with great care, they produce complex, concentrated and dense wines in the unique style of the Ribera del Duero terroir.

The Region

Castile and León comprises the northern half of Spain's large central plateau. It extends from central Spain almost to the northern coast; the vineyards are situated at elevations of 700 to 1,000 metres. Despite its proximity to the Atlantic, the climate is continental, with hot, dry summers, icy winters and significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. As rainfall is also very low, the soils are nutrient-poor—except near the region's many rivers, the most famous of which is the Duero, where significantly more minerals and clay can be found.
