About Domaine Lafage

Between the sea and the mountains, along the route between Perpignan and the Mediterranean coast, Domaine Lafage is based in a 15th-century country house built of old stone. After six generations of winemaking, the estate is now run by the experienced winemaking couple Jean-Marc and Éliane Lafage. Its cellar has been completely rebuilt and is perfectly equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The vines thrive on a diverse, varied terroir, and the Lafages turn their grapes into modern, on-trend wines together with a motivated team of highly qualified staff.

The Region

In the south of France, adjoining the Rhône Valley geographically, the Languedoc, the country's largest wine region, stretches along the Mediterranean coastline, with its vineyards and picturesque old stone houses. The climate is characterized by abundant sunshine, mild winters and hot summers. The vines that thrive here, mostly on limestone soils, are robust and strong thanks to the region's dry conditions. Alongside viticulture, olive growing is the dominant agricultural activity here; the olives also thrive without artificial irrigation. Languedoc is a particularly colorful region: Mediterranean flair is palpable everywhere, in the typical earthenware, airy fabrics and light, delicious dishes.
