About Domaine Lafage

Between the sea and the mountains, along the route between Perpignan and the Mediterranean coast, Domaine Lafage is based in a country house built of old stone in the 15th century. After six generations of winemakers, the estate is now run by the experienced oenologist couple Jean-Marc and Éliane Lafage. Its cellar has been completely rebuilt and fitted with state-of-the-art technology. The vines thrive in a diverse, varied terroir, and the Lafages craft modern, on-trend wines from them together with a motivated team of highly qualified staff.

The Region

In the south of France, adjoining the Rhône Valley geographically, the country’s largest wine region, Languedoc, stretches along the Mediterranean coastline, with its vineyards and picturesque old stone houses. The climate is characterised by abundant sunshine, mild winters and hot summers. The vines grown here—mostly on limestone soils—are robust and resilient thanks to the region’s dry conditions. Alongside viticulture, olive growing is also a major part of local agriculture; the olives thrive without artificial irrigation, too. Languedoc is a particularly colourful region: its Mediterranean charm is evident everywhere, from traditional earthenware and airy fabrics to light, tasty dishes.
