About Domaine Lafage
Located between the sea and the mountains, on the route between Perpignan and the Mediterranean coast, Domaine Lafage is based in a country house built from old stone in the 15th century. After six generations of winemakers, the estate is now run by the experienced winemaking couple Jean-Marc and Éliane Lafage. Its cellars have been completely rebuilt and are perfectly equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The vines thrive in a diverse and varied terroir, and the Lafages work with a motivated team of highly qualified staff to turn their grapes into modern, on-trend wines.
The region
In the south of France, bordering the Rhône Valley geographically, the Languedoc, the country's largest wine region, stretches along the Mediterranean coast with its vineyards and picturesque old stone houses. The climate is characterised by plenty of sunshine, mild winters and hot summers. The vines that thrive here—mostly on limestone soils—are robust and vigorous thanks to the region's dry conditions. Alongside viticulture, olive growing also dominates local agriculture, with the olives thriving without artificial irrigation. The Languedoc is a particularly colourful region: its Mediterranean flair is evident everywhere, from the traditional earthenware and airy fabrics to the light, delicious dishes.
