The Region

Australia is vast and offers a wide range of climatic conditions. By far the most important grape varieties in Australia are Shiraz—which ranks first in terms of area planted—Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Wines made from these varieties in particular enjoy an excellent reputation worldwide and have won numerous awards.
