About mulled wine

It’s a must in winter, and especially in the run-up to the festive season: mulled wine has a long tradition. Wines were spiced as far back as ancient times, and the oldest recipe for making it dates back to the 19th century. Strolling through a Christmas market, chatting with friends around an open fire and enjoying a snow-covered landscape – there are many occasions to enjoy a delicious mulled wine.

The region

In Germany, one of the world’s northernmost wine-growing regions, vines are grown mainly in the southwest of the country along the Moselle and Rhine rivers. Here, wine-growing benefits from moderately hot summers and winters that are not too cold – a climate in which Riesling vines feel particularly at home. The fresh, mineral white wines, notable for their lightness, spritz and fruitiness, have made Germany famous worldwide as a wine-producing country.
