The Region

In Germany, one of the world’s northernmost wine-growing regions, vines are cultivated mainly in the southwest of the country along the Moselle and Rhine rivers. Here, winegrowing benefits from moderately warm summers and winters that are not too cold—a climate in which Riesling vines feel particularly at home. The fresh, mineral white wines, known for their lightness, spritz and fruitiness, have made Germany famous as a wine-producing country around the world.
