The region

In Germany, one of the world's northernmost wine-growing regions, vines are cultivated primarily in the southwest of the country along the Moselle and Rhine rivers. Here, winegrowing benefits from moderately warm summers and winters that are not too cold—a climate in which Riesling vines feel particularly at home. The fresh, mineral white wines, known for their lightness, sparkle and fruitiness, have made Germany famous around the world as a wine-producing country.
