About Moderato

Behind Moderato are Sébastien, who comes from a wine-growing family in the Cognac region, and Fabien, an expert in the development of innovative beverages. The two love wine - its history, its terroir, its occasions, its diversity, its conviviality. They love wine so much that they would like to enjoy it more often - without the negative consequences. In true French fashion, they decided to start a revolution and create an alcohol-free wine without compromising on taste. To find the perfect aromatic balance, they tried the best grape varieties and focused on a unique distillation method. Today, supported by a team of winegrowers and oenologists, they develop increasingly refined cuvées that are recognized by the best wine professionals and sommeliers.

The Region

More top wines come from the prestigious Bordeaux than from any other growing region. The area, named after the city of the same name, is located on the Atlantic coast in the estuary of the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. The vineyards hug the Gironde and the rivers flowing into it, with a total of over 50 appellations. Pine forests in the south protect the region from the strong, salty winds from the Atlantic, so that the climate is mild and temperatures rarely fall below freezing. Long, warm summers are perfect for late-ripening grape varieties and thus for the creation of fine, subtle, and age-worthy wines. The most famous and widely distributed Bordeaux grape variety is Cabernet Sauvignon, but Merlot is grown the most. A layer of gravel and sand covers the region's limestone subsoil, so that the vines are deeply rooted and the water can drain away excellently.
