The Region

The Colchagua Valley wine-growing region extends over 100 kilometers from southeast to northwest at its widest point. It is one of South America's most promising wine regions and a highly coveted terroir: some of the best Chilean red wines are produced here, particularly from Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and Shiraz. The Mediterranean climate is textbook for viticulture: warm summers are cooled by sea breezes, and dry days are refreshed by the rivers. In addition, the grapes benefit from ideal sun exposure on granitic soils on hillsides, and the Tinguiririca River brings meltwater from the Andes, enriching the soils with clay-like material.
