The Region

Veneto, in the local language Veneto, is one of Italy's most popular wine regions with its tourist stronghold Venice – and one of the three largest in the country. Geographically, Veneto is extremely versatile: on the one hand, a third is covered by mountain ranges, on the other hand, the region in the central plain has extensive rice fields and a large coastal strip. Accordingly, the Venetian wines present themselves as highly varied. A stony and calcareous soil, covered with red and brown earth, offers the vines good growing conditions, the Alps, whose foothills border the extensive area in the north, protect the area from the harsher Northern European weather and ensure a balanced climate.
